Brazilian Products boosted in Macys

On Tuesday of this week a new Brazilian-USA commercial project was launched; it involves the north American department store chain Macy's, the largest such chain the the entire USA. The enterprise will involve Macy’s selling a wide range of Brazilian goods in their stores for a special ten-week period between April and July.

FIFA slates Brazil then apologises

Last Friday an incident was initiated by Jerome Valcke, the Secretary General of the international soccer organisation FIFA. Mr.Valcke was commenting (in French) about Brazil's readiness and preparations to host the World Cup in 2014. According to the news agencies he said that the country needed a "kick in the ass" if it was to make adequate preparations in time.

This is because they are widely seen as up-and-coming economic powers, seriously set to challenge the United States, Japan and several others as economic giants as this century progresses. Last week the President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff attended an important meeting of the 'Minha Casa Minha Vida' affordable housing scheme. At the gathering 'Dilma' reiterated that in her view Brazil’s income equality was steadily improving. Moreover it was doing so at a better rate than many so-called developed countries.

According to a recent report by the Paris-based IEA (International Energy Agency) Brazil is now the tenth largest consumer of electrical energy in the world. The figures show that in the last decade usage went up by slightly over the world average increase of 30%.

President Dilma Rousseff to meet Uruguayan president

On Thursday of this week, President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil will host a meeting in Brasilia with key members of the government of Uruguay.
The delegation from the neighbouring country will be led by President Jose Mujica and will also include Uruguay’s Foreign Minister, Luis Almagro and in addition the ministers of Industry and Economy.
