On Wednesday this week the Brazilian government is set to announce a range of measures designed to boost the economy. These will be centred on the construction and road-building sectors and will involve investment in the large scale purchase of heavy-duty equipment.

The so-called ‘Rio+20’ international environmental conference ended on a note of controversy last week. The highly publicised gathering attracted many senior political figures from around the globe including Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General, Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State and the President of Brazil (the host nation) Dilma Rousseff.

The so-called World Conference on Responsible Tourism started on Monday. This is a prestigious international grouping whose interests lie in harmonising (or seeking to harmonise) the global tourist trade with environmental and social responsibility worldwide.

Brazilian Government boosts the economy by 10 Billion

To help Brazil combat negative effects of the world economy, the national government will this week announce significant new measures, channelled through the individual States. All twenty-seven state governors have therefore been invited to meet President Dilma Rousseff at her palace in Brasilia on Friday.

Massive New Brazilian Oil Reserves

The Brazilian petroleum organisation Petrobras has announced a massive new discovery of oil and gas reserves. These are located at the facility of Pão de Açúcar, some 200 Km or so from the Atlantic coast of Rio State.
